Sutton Coldfield Musical Theatre Company returns to Lichfield Garrick Theatre this September with family favourite, Shrek the Musical.
Based on the smash-hit Dreamworks animation movies, Shrek the Musical follows the world’s favourite ogre who, having been sent out into the world by his parents aged just seven, and mocked and feared for all his life, settles in a swamp in happy isolation.
But his swampy peace is quickly disrupted by a group of fairy tale characters who’ve been evicted by the pint-sized Lord Farquaad. When Shrek agrees to help the fairy tale characters get their homes back it starts a journey which sees him joined by a Donkey sidekick and finding his love, Princess Fiona.
With a host of upbeat catchy songs (such as ‘I’m a Believer’), energetic dancing – including tap dancing rats, who MUST be seen - and crammed with comedy, this is guaranteed to have audiences laughing and singing along from start to finish!
The perfect theatre treat for all!
Shrek the Musical comes to the Garrick for one week from 12-16 September 2023. So, don’t miss out. Book now at: www.lichfieldgarrick.com
Les Miserables
Our fabulous youth company, Sutton Coldfield Musical Youth Theatre (SCMYT) return to The Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Hall with the iconic Les Misérables School Edition for February 2024.
This epic tale of broken dreams amid a troubled 19th century France is a much-loved, firm favourite of theatre audiences the world over.
Based on the classic Victor Hugo novel of the same name, the story centres on Jean Valjean, a French peasant, and his quest for redemption after being released from years of unjust imprisonment for stealing a loaf of bread for his sister’s starving child.
Once released, he finds a life of mistrust and mistreatment awaits. Breaking his parole in the hope of finding a better life, he is relentlessly pursued by police inspector Javert who refuses to believe Valjean can be redeemed.
During the student uprising of 1832 in Paris, Javert must then confront his ideals when Valjean spares his life and saves that of a student, who has captured the heart of Valjean’s adopted daughter.
Featuring the stirring and brilliant music and lyrics of Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg, audiences can expect all the drama of the Frenchrevolt alongside such well-loved songs as ‘I Dreamed a Dream’, ‘One Day More’, ‘On My Own’ and much, much, more in this landmark show.
